Curtis Sittenfeld, best-selling author of several acclaimed novels and a writer and editor for The New York Times, The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, and other leading publications, as well as a guest on public radio's This American Life, will discuss her newly released collection of short stories, Show Don't Tell, on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., in a co-presentation of The University of Baltimore's MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts and the Ivy Bookshop. The event, the first of the MFA's 2025 Spring Reading Series, will take place in UBalt's Wright Theater, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. Sittenfeld will be in conversation with UBalt Prof. Marion Winik, a nationally recognized memoirist, journalist and book critic. A capacity crowd is expected for this free and open event, so early reservations are encouraged. Attendance details are listed below.

Show Don't Tell is a funny, fiercely intelligent and moving collection exploring marriage, friendship, fame, and artistic ambition—including a story that revisits the main character from the author's iconic novel Prep. The new collection will be released just one day prior to Sittenfeld's appearance at the University.

Sittenfeld has authored six novels, including Rodham, Eligible, Prep, American Wife, Romantic Comedy, and Sisterland, as well as the collection You Think It, I'll Say It. Her novels have been translated into 30 languages. Her stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Washington Post Magazine, Esquire, and The Best American Short Stories, for which she has also served as a guest editor. Her nonfiction has appeared in many national publications.

A reception sponsored by the University's Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences will follow Sittenfeld's appearance. It will take place in the Bogomolny Room, adjacent to the theater.
