Proud Past • Bright Future
We started in 1925 in Baltimore with a simple mission—to offer access to life-changing
educational opportunities tailored to working adults. In the evening hours, long after
traditional schools closed, students came to our urban campus to achieve their goals,
one class at a time. Those classes—and how they are offered—have evolved, but our
mission holds true. We will always be different by design. Our students come to us
with unmatched passion, grow with us into the leaders they want to be, and make a
meaningful impact through civic engagement in their communities here and around the
world.

enough to be merely good—we strive for excellence in everything we do.

Civic Engagement
We believe civic engagement is a fundamental human duty. We don’t just learn in the
classroom. We learn by walking the streets of our neighborhoods, volunteering at local
organizations, coming to the aid of those who are looking for a helping hand.

CELEBRATE with us
With 100 years to celebrate, we need the full year of 2025 to honor our past, present
and future.
Through events, stories, exhibits and more, we’re looking forward to celebrating the
impact we’ve had on Baltimore and beyond. You’re welcome to join us as we look to
set the course for continued growth in our next century.
“It feels good knowing I am helping serve the people of this state using skills and
training I gained at a state school, from instructors who care about—and very are
knowledgeable about!—what happens in Maryland.”
Adria Obonyo, J.D. candidate
“As a first-generation law student, The University of Baltimore School of Law has
given me the support and sense of community that I needed to excel. As a result, I
have been able to master my coursework, become the community service director of the
Black Law Students Association, intern at the Office of the Attorney General, and
secure a summer associate position at a large firm. Attending UBalt Law is one of
the best decisions that I have ever made!”
Charles Peacher, B.S. ‘80
“I loved the fact that UB was a no-nonsense college. My goal was to get a good education
that would not place me in debt. Also, I’m proud to be an alumnus with many of Baltimore’s
best!”
Megan Wheatley, B.A. in Legal Studies student
“I am proud to be a part of The University of Baltimore, because the school challenges
people to grow, and to be the best version of themselves. No matter your background,
everyone I’ve met at UBalt is friendly, driven and inspiring.”
Dr. Ryna Marie May, B.A. ’01
“I loved my time at UB because of the great professors I worked with, especially Dr.
Carol Peirce, Professor Kendra Kopelke and Dr. Betsy Yarrison. The knowledge, passion
and preparation I got from my time at UB propelled me to go on to graduate school
and eventually to my career in higher education. I’ll always be grateful to be a Bee!”
Lisa D. Brown, B.A. ’24
“The school and faculty made it possible for me to complete my bachelor’s degree.
I had many setbacks, but I got it done. I’m glad to be a part of the UBalt family.
I will continue to let everyone know if you want to complete your degree, UBalt is
the place to be.”
David Joya-Iglesias, J.D. candidate
“Proud to be part of a community that embodies true connection and support. My cohort
and classmates are like a close-knit family, making the journey of balancing full-time
work and school not just bearable but empowering. Here, judgment is replaced by encouragement,
and together, we push each other to reach the shared goal.”
Deborah Li, CERT ’19, digital resources librarian
“I am proud to be a part of The University of Baltimore because I feel we are making
a difference in the lives of first-generation students, of older students, and of
students of all backgrounds. I am also impressed by the collaboration between community
and classes for practical learning experience that is win-win. I am also glad to work
at UBalt because of the welcoming environment—my colleagues are wonderful, and the
students are very appreciative of the help we provide at the Robert L. Bogomolny Library!”
Sheik Md Akij, MBA student, marketing specialization
"This University has shown me that with a community like this, you can overcome any
challenge and rise from zero to hero. I am in unconditional love with UBalt forever,
and I am incredibly proud to call this place my family. I love you, UBalt.”
