There's more than one way to get to and from UBalt. Check out the many transportation options available to you as a student, visitor or faculty or staff member—or if you are simply visiting UBalt Midtown.

  • Penn Station
    Penn Station

    Penn Station, adjacent to the UBalt campus, is America's eighth busiest train station. Multiple bus lines, MARC and Amtrak trains are served by Penn Station. Trains between Washington, D.C., and New York City depart and arrive every hour on most days.

  • Light Rail
    Light Rail

    The Light Rail connects UBalt to downtown, to suburbs both north and south and to BWI Airport. The University of Baltimore/Mount Royal stop is at the corner of Oliver Street and Mount Royal Avenue. Discounted monthly passes are available.

  • MARC
    MARC

    MARC is a commuter train serving suburbs north and south of the city. Major destinations include Penn Station adjacent to UBalt, BWI Airport, New Carrollton, and Washington, D.C.'s Union Station.   • MTA bus
    MTA Buses

    MTA buses connect most of the Baltimore region. The UBalt campus is served by lines 3, 11, 61, 64 and 21. Discounted monthly passes are available.

  • Metro Subway
    Metro Subway

    MTA Metro Subway runs southbound to Lexington Market, downtown and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Northwest-bound trains stop at Mondawmin Mall and neighborhoods and suburbs toward Owings Mills.     Bolt Bus

    Bolt Buses depart from 1578 Maryland Ave. (one block from UBalt) multiple times daily for Midtown Manhattan and Newark International Airport.

Light Rail

The Light Rail runs north-south between Hunt Valley and Glen Burnie. The University of Baltimore/Mount Royal station is just west of the Fitzgerald Garage and the main campus buildings.

Light Rail tickets cost a flat $1.60 each way.


Bus

The University is located on several major metropolitan bus routes and regional commuter bus routes. The University also offers free shuttle bus service.


Charm City Circulator

The free, eco-friendly Charm City Circulator consists of a fleet of 21 hybrid electric vehicles following four routes:


Metro Subway

The Metro Subway runs from Owings Mills to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Maryland State Office Building Metro Subway Station is located four blocks from the UBalt campus.


Train

UBalt is one block south of Pennsylvania Station (Amtrak and MARC service) on Charles Street.


Discount Programs for Public Transportation

MTA CharmPass

UBalt students and employees can pay for BaltimoreLink local buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, MARC Train, and Commuter Bus services directly from their smartphone. CharmPass is free to download for Apple and Android devices. All fare products offered for MTA core services, together with MARC train and commuter bus products, are available for purchase on the CharmPass app. Fare products are stored on your phone and are available for immediate use once purchased. MTA Commuter Choice Pre-Tax Discount Program for UBalt Faculty/Staff

UBalt has partnered with the Maryland Transit Authority to offer the Commuter Choice pre-tax discount program to regular UBalt faculty and staff.

Pay for your bus, Metro Subway, light rail and MARC monthly passes through pre-tax salary deductions, saving significant money—and reducing your carbon footprint.

Guaranteed Ride Home

Guaranteed Ride Home provides commuters who regularly (twice a week) carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or take transit to work with a free and reliable ride home when one of life's unexpected emergencies arise. Commuters may take advantage of this service up to four times a year to get home for unexpected emergencies such as a personal illness or a sick child.

Guaranteed Ride Home can also be used for unscheduled overtime when your employer mandates that you must stay late. The service is designed to rescue commuters who are worried about how they'll get home when an emergency arises. Knowing there's a guaranteed ride home allows one to use commuting options like transit and carpools with peace of mind and confidence.
