Our Bachelor of Science program has been developed and is delivered in partnership
with the Baltimore Police Department, bringing you as close to real-world forensic
studies as possible.
You'll study the theory of forensics and practice its applications through your coursework, and complete an internship with a local law enforcement agency. This experiential learning opportunity provides you with the background and forensic experience you'll need to become a forensic science specialist or a criminal investigator.
During this program, you'll choose one of two distinct concentrations of study:
This concentration focuses on the field's legal and procedural aspects. As a student in the forensic investigation concentration, you'll work with law enforcement professionals in the Baltimore Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau to gain a practical understanding of current investigative procedures and techniques.
You'll receive comprehensive training in the evidentiary process and familiarize yourself with the major components of the criminal justice process, from the investigation and collection of crime scene evidence to its scientific evaluation and subsequent presentation in court.
Our Forensic Investigation Concentration will prepare you for work in the field and in the laboratory in such careers as:
This concentration focuses on the scientific aspects of criminal investigation. You'll be working in the University of Baltimore's state-of-the-art Jami R. Grant Forensic Laboratories, built in conjunction with the Baltimore Police Department to train students and to serve as a reserve crime lab for the city. Your coursework in the lab will allow you to interact with forensic professionals and gain experience with sophisticated equipment.

From fingerprints to blood splatters. WMAR-2 News Baltimore followed a group of UBalt Forensic Studies students as they toured the Baltimore Police Department's forensics lab and got to see firsthand how forensic scientists go about solving crimes.
The Maryland Police Officer Scholarship is awarded to current police officers or individuals planning to become a police officer, who are enrolled in an academic program that furthers their career in law enforcement. Recipients must pledge to work as a police officer in the state upon completion of their studies.

When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to work for businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies that deal in, represent or interact with artists and the arts—perhaps in addition to managing your own freelance artistic career. You’ll also be well prepared for graduate-level study in business and the arts.

With UBalt’s location between the Station North Arts and Entertainment District and the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the neighborhood is your laboratory, and this program will allow you opportunities to work with the city’s theaters, museums, galleries, musical venues and arts advocacy groups, shadowing and assisting artists, attending exhibits and performances, and interning with an artist or arts-related organization.
