Jemia Bell-Sandy, Health Management student

Jemia Bell-Sandy will be the first person in her family to graduate from college when she receives her B.S. in Health Management from The University of Baltimore in December 2023. Hear the story of her journey to get here and what it means.


STUDENT and Alumni Spotlights

Danielle FentonDanielle Fenton, a rising senior in the Health Management program, is the 2022 recipient of the Doug Shepherd Memorial Scholarship awarded by the Maryland Association of Healthcare Executives, the Maryland chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Danielle currently works at Luminis Health as an executive assistant in revenue cycle and marketing and communications. She has been accepted into the accelerated M.S. in Health Administration program at The University of Baltimore and desires to continue her career in revenue cycle management.


Avneet KaurAvneet Kaur, B.S. '21, who was a student in UBalt's Health Management program at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), was the winner of the 2020-2021 USG Academic Achievement Award. These awards are presented to one outstanding senior from each undergraduate program offered at USG who has demonstrated academic excellence and achievement. Winners are selected on the basis of GPA, participation in internships and honor societies, and contributions to their program of study.

Avneet is now in UBalt's health administration graduate program and plans to apply the knowledge gained in the undergraduate and graduate programs toward achieving a management-level position within the healthcare field.

The mission of Bachelor of Science in Health Management program is to prepare, educate and develop students, particularly nontraditional students, for entry and mid-level management positions in a variety of health-services organizations. Our undergraduate program emphasizes integrity, teamwork, professionalism, and leadership required to excel in the diverse and dynamic health care environment.

EMPOWERING YOUR FUTURE

When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to work for businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies that deal in, represent or interact with artists and the arts—perhaps in addition to managing your own freelance artistic career. You’ll also be well prepared for graduate-level study in business and the arts.

You’ll take courses in:

  • arts production and performance
  • history, appreciation and analysis of the arts
  • government and business as they relate to the arts
  • technology’s impact on and importance to the arts.

With UBalt’s location between the Station North Arts and Entertainment District and the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the neighborhood is your laboratory, and this program will allow you opportunities to work with the city’s theaters, museums, galleries, musical venues and arts advocacy groups, shadowing and assisting artists, attending exhibits and performances, and interning with an artist or arts-related organization.
