Darleen Major and her twin daughters, Kabrina Johnson and Katrina WIlliams, shared a passion for health care—and now a master's from UBalt. All three earned their M.S. in Health Administration in May 2024. READ THE FULL STORY
Sara Bravo, M.S. '19, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2008 with a B.A.
in Mass Communications with an emphasis in public relations. For the past five years
she has worked at the Johns Hopkins Pain Treatment Center in various roles. She started
off at as an entry-level patient services coordinator, which afforded her the chance
to learn about healthcare in an outpatient setting from the ground up. She was eventually
promoted to supervisor, which helped her realize what career path she wanted to take,
so she decided to enroll in UBalt’s Health Systems Management (now Health Administration)
master’s program. Through her classes, she was able to hear about what other managers
in the program experienced and the lessons they learned. Upon completing the master's
program, Sara was promoted to manager of the pain treatment clinic at JHH. This past
May, she was again promoted to operations manager of the Emergency Department at Johns
Hopkins Hospital.
"I wanted to take this opportunity working in emergency medicine because I like the
fast paced environment. In the emergency department, we unfortunately meet patients
on some of their worst days. Although I cannot help clinically, I take great pride
in working behind the scenes, making sure our clinical and administrative staff can
deliver the fastest care at the highest quality."
Byrone Brown, M.S. ’15, J.D. ’21, has been selected for the 2022 Noblis Experience Corporate Award.
During the past seven years at Noblis, Brown has provided program and project management
support to the Office of Information Technology at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid,
as well as the Enterprise Systems and Solutions Group (ESSG) where he provides project
management oversight and strategic planning guidance. He is leading data-driven analysis
of SharePoint for ESSG using data analytics and data science, and has been chosen
to lead a new initiative on the Health Solutions account at Noblis, where he will
serve as a health policy subject matter expert. He has also developed a presentation
on how data analytics may be used to achieve health equity and reduce health disparities.
In addition to the Corporate Award, Brown has also been recognized for his leadership
at Noblis with the Board of Trustees Award for Excellence and the Frontline Leadership
Impact Award.
Brown earned his Master of Science in Health Administration from The University of Baltimore’s College of Public Affairs, his Juris Doctorate from The University of Baltimore School of Law and his Bachelor of Science from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He also holds a professional certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders and a SAFe Agilist certification from Scaled Agile. He is a member of the American Health Law Association.
Tiffany Cover, M.S. ’18, began her academic career at the University of Florida and earned her
B.S. in Health Science in 2012. She also obtained her master’s in occupational therapy
from the University of Florida in 2013. She is a board certified and licensed occupational
therapist who has been practicing for the past five years in the acute care hospital
setting. Tiffany decided to return to school during her clinical career and completed
her Master of Science in Health Systems Management (now Health Administration) at
the University of Baltimore.
She currently works at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center as an Associate
Group Practice Manager. In this new career path, the overarching goal is to promote
access to care for our nation’s veterans using face-to-face discussions with healthcare
providers and administrative staff, data analytics, administrative policies, and legislature/health
policy to name a few areas. Through team collaboration, ensuring access to care strives
towards the Veterans Health Administration’s top priority to provide quality care
for our Veterans.
Ashley Cunningham, a current Health Administration student, has been selected to serve as the student
member on the Maryland Association of Health Care Executives’ (MAHCE) Board of Directors.
As a student representative, Ashley will participate in board meetings and work closely
with the board’s faculty liaison—our very own Alan Weisman—to develop programs for
students in the Maryland chapter. In collaboration with Prof. Weisman, Ashley will
conduct outreach to help grow the association’s membership and increase student awareness
and participation in MAHCE networking/educational events, as well as manage the events
section of the MAHCE website. Ashley will also work with the Program Committee to
plan future MAHCE events.
Parisa Damadi, M.S. '21, who was a student in UBalt's M.S. in Health Administration program at
The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), was the winner of the 2020-2021 Graduate Student Academic and Community Excellence Award. These awards are presented to one student from each of the graduate/professional
programs at USG, and celebrate students who have made outstanding contributions to
their community in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and involvement.
"Parisa has exhibited qualities that will make her successful in achieving her career goals as evidenced by her coursework and her GPA. Her interest in serving the elderly was piqued when she volunteered at the Shady Grove Medical Center as a Patient Care Representative. In that volunteer role, she was able to gain an understanding of the need for additional support to this group. She recognized that many of those she served did not have a clear understanding of the process of navigating through our complex health care system, which caused them to forgo medical care at times. Parisa intends to apply the knowledge gained in the Health Administration program towards achieving a management-level position that will provide support to the elderly population. Her overarching goal is to actively contribute her knowledge towards improving access to quality healthcare for the elderly.

With UBalt’s location between the Station North Arts and Entertainment District and the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the neighborhood is your laboratory, and this program will allow you opportunities to work with the city’s theaters, museums, galleries, musical venues and arts advocacy groups, shadowing and assisting artists, attending exhibits and performances, and interning with an artist or arts-related organization.
