The M.S. in Negotiations and Conflict Management program can now be completed entirely online.

You can now earn your Negotiations and Conflict Management degree fully online from anywhere in the world. We are now accepting applications for fall 2024 for both face-to-face and fully online graduate degrees.

You can also complete this program as a dual J.D./M.S. in Negotiations and Conflict Management, which allows you to earn both degrees with 12 fewer credits than would be required to earn the two degrees independently.

In this 36-credit Master of Science program—the first-ever program in Maryland—integrates a range of interdisciplinary perspectives to give a broad understanding of what conflict is, why it happens and how to resolve it. The Johannes Botes Capstone Achievement Award

Honoring the legacy of Johannes (Jannie) Botes

Johannes BotesThe Johannes Botes Capstone Achievement Award was established in loving memory of retired professor Johannes (Jannie) Botes, who lost a two-year battle with ALS in January 2015. Prof. Botes had served on the faculty of the School of Public and International Affairs since 1999. He was a world-class educator and scholar in the area of conflict management and resolution, and was much loved by his colleagues and students. In partnership with his family, UBalt established The Johannes Botes Capstone Achievement Award, an annual award to recognize one student in either the Negotiations and Conflict Management program or the Global Affairs and Human Security program for his or her outstanding work in the final thesis capstone project.

EMPOWERING YOUR FUTURE

When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to work for businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies that deal in, represent or interact with artists and the arts—perhaps in addition to managing your own freelance artistic career. You’ll also be well prepared for graduate-level study in business and the arts.

You’ll take courses in:

  • arts production and performance
  • history, appreciation and analysis of the arts
  • government and business as they relate to the arts
  • technology’s impact on and importance to the arts.

With UBalt’s location between the Station North Arts and Entertainment District and the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the neighborhood is your laboratory, and this program will allow you opportunities to work with the city’s theaters, museums, galleries, musical venues and arts advocacy groups, shadowing and assisting artists, attending exhibits and performances, and interning with an artist or arts-related organization.
