Get the cross-cultural preparation you need to thrive in an international workforce.
Today’s companies that employ Industrial and Organizational Psychologists typically
have global connections, whether the company is multinational or the company has international
partners, vendors or consumers. These companies benefit greatly from having IO psychology
professionals who are prepared to consult to such organizations that transcend national
boundaries.
If you've earned or are earning your master's degree in industrial and organizational
psychology (IOP), this 12-credit post-baccalaureate certificate program provides you with credentials that emphasize
your experience in global IOP.
Global and Intercultural Fluency
What is Global/Intercultural Fluency?
Global/intercultural fluency is now one of the most valued skills among the increasingly
globalized workplace. Research done by the British Council about the importance of
culture at work shows the real business value and benefits of staff who have the ability
to work with other individuals and organizations from different cultural backgrounds.
Employers have highlighted the importance of demonstrating respect for other cultures
and having the ability to understand different cultural contexts as a path to success.
Additional Information
The National Association of Colleges and Employers' website on career readiness is a great resource for information about the critical skills employers are looking
for and the competencies that can help graduates make a successful transition into
the workplace.
“We believe always as educators, and as scholars, that we grow from interaction with
others,” said Sri Zaheer, dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University
of Minnesota. “We grow from ideas from working off the developments of others. That’s
how knowledge advances.”
“We’re not just concerned about a particular country or a particular state,” she added.
“We are concerned about our impact on society and our impact on the world. And the
only way we can do it is through better collaboration.”
Due the global 2020 global pandemic, students in the M.S. in Applied Psychology, Industrial
and Organizational Psychology (IOP) and Graduate Certificate in Global IOP programs
completed the global engagement portion of their capstone course with a week-long
virtual trip to Silcon Valley, CA. The students met with leaders from start-up to
fully mature multinational companies, including Intuit, Google, Salesforce, Culture
Amp, Numerify, Solaredge, Facebook, Hewlett Packard, Houzz and Pulse Secure. Watchthe students deliver 5-minute Ignite presentations about their experiences studying
and visiting these companies.

WHY UBALT IS FOR YOU
The Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area is home to countless arts organizations,
from large and established to small startups—not to mention government agencies like
the National Endowment for the Arts. Work with artists to understand and contribute
to the culture, and gain the knowledge and skills to help artists and arts organizations
thrive in a market-driven society—all while pursuing your own artistic endeavors.
In this Bachelor of Arts program, you’ll learn about the cultural, political and business
aspects of the arts while concentrating on the art that interests you most: from visual
art to creative writing to music.

and government agencies that deal in, represent or interact with artists and the arts—perhaps
in addition to managing your own freelance artistic career. You’ll also be well prepared
for graduate-level study in business and the arts.
You’ll take courses in:
arts production and performance
history, appreciation and analysis of the arts
government and business as they relate to the arts
technology’s impact on and importance to the arts.
With UBalt’s location between the Station North Arts and Entertainment District and
the Mount Vernon Cultural District, the neighborhood is your laboratory, and this
program will allow you opportunities to work with the city’s theaters, museums, galleries,
musical venues and arts advocacy groups, shadowing and assisting artists, attending
exhibits and performances, and interning with an artist or arts-related organization.
What Our
