What is the difference between Commencement and Graduation?
Once your registration is successfully completed, you will receive a notification
by mail or through your UBalt email account. Please review the information immediately
and notify the Office of Records and Registration if any information is incorrect.
Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed in MyUBalt portal approximately 6-8
weeks after degrees are awarded—so please make sure it is listed correctly on file.
Please note: All students who anticipate graduating must complete this step to be
considered a UBalt graduate and receive a diploma.

Examples of circumstances which will NOT be considered for early participation include, but are not limited to:
Students who wish to deviate from standard practice by participating prior to degree completion or outside of their scheduled ceremony should review the Procedures for Commencement Appeals Document and complete the Commencement Appeal Form, which can be found on the main Commencement page, during the established application period.
Latin Honors
Since final grades will not yet be submitted, current coursework cannot be considered when making the honors determination for the ceremony. Therefore, Latin honors are assigned using the student’s record from the previous semester. The final designation earned will be awarded based on the student’s entire record and will appear the official transcript and diploma. Students awarded honors have the appropriate GPA and at least 48 credits earned at The University of Baltimore. For more information about honors, contact the Office of the University Registrar at 410.837.4825.
