Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp

Calling all students.

We're looking for scholars, athletes and leaders to join the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). As a UBalt student, you can join Army ROTC as part of our partnership with The Johns Hopkins University or Air Force ROTC at the University of Maryland, College Park. The ROTC mission is to lead, train, develop, mentor and commission the future officer leadership of the U.S. Army.

Here's how it works:

  • one 2-hour/2-credit class per week
  • one 2-hour/1-credit leadership lab per week
  • three hours of physical fitness per week
  • Leader's Training Course: There's a potential $5,000 bonus for this 4-week course.
  • Air Assault School: Ten days of rigorous, fast-paced training.
  • Cadet Troop Leadership Training: Intern with second lieutenant platoon leaders.
  • Students who receive scholarships will normally serve four years of active duty or six years of U.S. Army Reserve or National Guard duty (one weekend a month and two weeks of drill training per year).
  • Non-scholarship students can participate without any service obligation up to their junior year.
