There are many ways students and members of the Baltimore community can be involved in the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts.   

Student Fellows Program

As a student fellow, I learned how a therapeutic approach to the law can produce positive experiences for parents and children in family court proceedings. My CFCC experience reminded me that my reason to attend law school was to help people.

Student Research Assistants

Because CFCC undertakes numerous projects, law students can work as student research assistants, depending upon available funding. To inquire about availability, please contact CFCC's Director, Professor Barbara A. Babb.

The Cheryl Lynn Hepfer Family Law Award

The Cheryl Lynn Hepfer Family Law Award, endowed by the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and established through CFCC, awards $1,000 to students who 1) completes and excels in the CFCC Student Fellows Program I and II; 2) completes and excels in the core Family Law course; and 3) participates as a Rule 16 Student Attorney in either the Family Law Clinic or the Mediation Clinic for Families.The recipient of the 2016 Cheryl Lynn Hepfer Family Law Award is Brittany Strickland, a third year law student and former CFCC Student Fellow who participated in the Truancy Court Program. The award, which honors Cheryl Lynn Hepfer, a prominent Maryland attorney, will be awarded every year for the next ten years

Truancy Court Program Volunteers

Law students interested in working in community/court partnerships are encouraged to participate in CFCC's Truancy Court Program Volunteer Initiative, which also is open to all members of the University of Baltimore community.
