Partner with the Baltimore Police Department, getting as close to real-world forensic studies as possible.

forensics badgeOur Bachelor of Science program has been developed and is delivered in partnership with the Baltimore Police Department, bringing you as close to real-world forensic studies as possible.

You'll study the theory of forensics and practice its applications through your coursework, and complete an internship with a local law enforcement agency. This experiential learning opportunity provides you with the background and forensic experience you'll need to become a forensic science specialist or a criminal investigator.

During this program, you'll choose one of two distinct concentrations of study:

Forensic Investigation Concentration

This concentration focuses on the field's legal and procedural aspects. As a student in the forensic investigation concentration, you'll work with law enforcement professionals in the Baltimore Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau to gain a practical understanding of current investigative procedures and techniques.

You'll receive comprehensive training in the evidentiary process and familiarize yourself with the major components of the criminal justice process, from the investigation and collection of crime scene evidence to its scientific evaluation and subsequent presentation in court.

Our Forensic Investigation Concentration will prepare you for work in the field and in the laboratory in such careers as:

Forensic Science Concentration

This concentration focuses on the scientific aspects of criminal investigation. You'll be working in the University of Baltimore's state-of-the-art Jami R. Grant Forensic Laboratories, built in conjunction with the Baltimore Police Department to train students and to serve as a reserve crime lab for the city. Your coursework in the lab will allow you to interact with forensic professionals and gain experience with sophisticated equipment.
