In the past five years, the number of UBalt students living near campus has increased
134 percent. That's because everything you need is right here: who wouldn't love living
close to great restaurants, stores, cultural attractions and nightlife?
There are many great housing options all around UBalt Midtown. If you live near campus,
you'll not only be steps from classes, but also close to your friends and all the
conveniences and luxuries city life provides.
UBalt has a Walk Score rating of 91, meaning you don't need a car to run daily errands like going to the supermarket,
pharmacy, bank or restaurants. Everything you need—or want to do—is within walking

UBalt is one mile from downtown Baltimore and right in the middle of the city's vibrant
cultural district. The fabric around UBalt is made up of theaters, museums and an
opera house, as well as the hip Station North Arts & Entertainment District.
The free Charm City Circulator bus arrives about every 12 minutes during peak hours.
Students pick up the Purple Line at Penn Station and take it to Mount Vernon, downtown,
the Inner Harbor and Federal Hill.
Penn Station is just steps away from campus, making it easy to take trains to Washington,
D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Boston and other destinations along the nation's northeast
corridor. MARC trains offer inexpensive rides to D.C. any day of the week.
Neighborhoods around UBalt are widely credited with having some of the best architecture
in the United States. Bold, beautiful buildings and monuments are all around. Baltimore's
Washington Monument is the highlight of a quaint park and a centerpiece for festivals
and fairs. The monument's holiday lighting in December is always special, as is the
Flower Mart each spring.
Charles Street, Baltimore's historic "main street," is UBalt's handy commercial thoroughfare.
This lovely corridor is brimming with places to eat, shop and relax. Your grocery
needs are just steps away from campus and nearby farmers markets welcome those who
like farm-to-table food.
There is always an opportunity for entertainment on and around the UBalt campus, and
sometimes our neighborhood becomes center stage for the entire city. Gatherings such
as Artscape and the Baltimore Book Festival add a bit of spice to everyday life at
UBalt.
Nature is close by, too. The Jones Falls Trail is a paradise for hikers and bikers.
It runs along a nearby stream where you can spot yellow-crowned night herons or bike
to Druid Hill Park, home of the Baltimore Zoo and an 18-hole disc golf course.
