Use our Transfer Equivalency System (TES) to check how courses have been evaluated. Note that course transfer is based on grades, intended major, number of credits, and other criteria. New courses are added regularly.
We welcome students transferring from Maryland's 16 community colleges and public institutions. Here’s how it works:
At UBalt, we make sure your credits transfer smoothly.
For students transferring from non-public Maryland institutions:
UBalt accepts credits evaluated by third-party international credential evaluators.
If you’ve attended a school outside the U.S., you must have your academic record evaluated by a U.S. credential evaluation service, at your own expense. For transfer and graduate applicants, evaluations must be course-by-course and include GPA conversion to a 4.0 scale. For pricing, please contact the service directly. UBalt does not evaluate non-U.S. transcripts. Learn more on our Non-Us Transcript Evaluation page.
Cambridge International:
Students with an Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) diploma or
completed AS or A-level exams may receive credit. Accepted grades: D, M, and P (Distinction,
Merit, Pass). Individual exam scores must be at least a "D," roughly equivalent to
a U.S. grade of C+. Official scores must be sent to UBalt for credit.
High school students who take AP exams can earn college credit at UBalt.
AP credit may count toward general education, general electives, or, in some cases, major requirements. An AP exam can fulfill both a general education and major requirement if it meets both standards. However, it cannot be used for a general education and elective requirement, or for both an elective and a major requirement. If the UBalt equivalency is for a general education requirement, the credit may be used as a general elective.
Under no circumstances can a single AP exam be awarded more than the number of credits
indicated in the table below.
for the Environmental Sustainability major
for the Forensic Studies major, Forensic Science concentration (transfer students only)
for the Policy, Politics and International Affairs major
for the Psychology major
Students who earn an IB Diploma or complete IB courses may receive credit at UBalt.
We award 30 credits and sophomore standing to students who complete the full IB Diploma. The Office of Records and Registration will review your transcript to apply these credits.
Students who complete individual higher-level IB courses (without the full diploma) and pass the corresponding exams may also receive credit. Official scores should be sent from the International Baccalaureate Organization to UBalt for evaluation.
Individual Equivalencies include:
CLEP exams can earn you college credit, typically for general education or elective requirements.
.
Military and civilian students can earn credit by successfully completing DSST exams.

StraighterLine courses may earn you credit at UBalt.
UBalt accepts credit for both occupation and service experience, based on your Joint Service Transcript (JST).
JST Credit: We accept credits approved through your JST, evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE). ACE reviews military transcripts for free and submits evaluations to your chosen institutions.
Submit Your JST: To register for JST, click here. If you have an existing JST account, submit it for credit review.
Credit Review: Submit your JST as part of the admission process. It won’t affect your admission decision, but once admitted, a Transcript Evaluator will review and post your credits in your MyUBalt portal for review by your Academic Adviser.
Community College of the Air Force (CCAF): Credits from CCAF are not considered Military Credit and will be transferred based on standard credit policies.
Turn your experience into credit.
UBalt grants credit for approved national, state, and local credentials. To apply, speak with your admission counselor or academic adviser. You’ll need to provide official documentation to verify your credential, which must be active at the time of enrollment.
