When Vernon H.C. Wright, B.S. '69, established the Wright Business Global Scholars Endowment, he did so to help Merrick
School of Business students develop their skills, broaden their world view in matters
of international business. The Wright Scholars fund helps our students travel and
learn more about the cultures, economies, in the countries we visit.
each year, The Merrick School's faculty and administrators work hard to delivery relevant
global field study experiences.
Here are a few from the past few years.
Countries that
we've visited.
Panama 2025
The students experienced a lot in Panama during winter break 2025. For a week they
visited several companies that were focused on shipping and logistics. Here they are
on their last visit to Banco Lafise where they got insights on the differences between
Panamanian and U.S. banking practices.
Mexico 2024
January is a great time for a Global Field Study to Mexico. That's where Professor
Kevin Wynne took his class in 2024.
Switzerland 2023
A dozen students went to Lucerne, Switzerland in 2023. The host university HSLU –
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, welcomed Dr. Mikhail Pevzner and
his students on June 4. The experienced visits around Lucerne, Basel and Zurich.
They were exposed to topics like currencies and geopolitics, international logistics,
sustainability, leadership, the Swiss banking system, fintech and blockchain, customers'
