You asked and we listened! No more waiting in line at the attendant's booth to validate your parking to exit the garage! No more lost parks at the end of the semester!
Based on student feedback, the semester plans have been replaced with a flexible payment plan automatically set at the campus rate so you can tap your card at the gate to enter and exit the garage-- and automatically pay the student rate. Rather than a fixed package which often resulted in the loss of unsused parking at the end of the semester, this account will never expire. Also, you can add funds in any amount, at intervals convenient to you. Account balances will be emailed to you regularly.
**The parking attendant will no longer validate parking or take payments of any kind. During the transition period, attendants in the booth will provide validations for $5 parking to pay at the gate, however the attendants will not take payments.

Pre-tax parking is a way to to pay for regular faculty and employees to pay for unlimited parking through payroll deductions. (The State only offers this benefit to regular employees.) Under this option, the amount of the annual parking rate will be deducted in installments on a pre-tax basis from your bi-weekly pay throughout the year from late August through May, instead of paying for the permit in full at the time of purchase.

For contractual employees who are not eligible for the pre-tax parking option, and infrequent parkers for whom it does not make sense to purchase pre-tax parking, the same account explained for students above, will allow you to create an acocunt in advance and tap and go in and out at the gate 24/7 with your Bee Card. You may also pay the garage market rate in lane with credit or debit; the rates are posted in the garage.
More details about pre-tax parking: Pre-tax payroll deductions are a payment method for regular employees who need access to park in the Fitzgerald Garage. Pre-tax parkers have access to the Fitzgerald Garage 24/7 by scanning their Bee Card to enter and exit.
Payroll deductions begin in late August and stop in late May; the deductions are not “pay as you go”. The deduction amount is based on an annual parking rate, which is collected in 20 of 26 pay periods. So if it will benefit you to use pre-tax parking when the semester begins, sign up as of July 1, since the deductions will “catch up” the payments for July and August once they begin at the end of August.

Pre-tax parking is not an option the State of Maryland provides to adjunct faculty or contractual employees. As explained in the Faculty and Staff section above, the same account option available to students may be used to pay the $5 rate per park.
