2021 Conference – Applied Feminism and Privacy
We were honored to have Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, as our keynote speaker.
2019 Conference -- Applied Feminism and #MeToo
Expert in sexual harassment, employment, and whistleblower law, Debra Katz, presented the 2019 keynote address. She has developed extensive litigation experience
in federal and local courts and has achieved significant courtroom successes in a
number of high-profile cases. She has been recognized as "Civil Rights Lawyer of the
Year" for Washington, D.C. by The Best Lawyers© In America for 2018, as one of the “toughest” employment lawyers in Washington, D.C. by Washingtonian magazine
2017 Conference -- Applied Feminism and Intersectionality
We were honored to have Jocelyn Frye, senior fellow, Center for American Progress, as our 2017 keynote speaker. Formerly,
Frye was a deputy assistant to President Barack Obama and director of policy and special
projects for First Lady Michelle Obama.
2016 Conference -- Applied Feminism Today
We were honored to have Judge Nancy Gertner as our 2016 keynote speaker. She is a former U. S. federal judge who built her career
standing up for women's rights, civil liberties and justice for all. She is currently
on the faculty at Harvard Law School and is the author of In Defense of Women: Memoirs of an Unrepentant Advocate.
2015 Conference -- Applied Feminism and Work
EEOC Commissioner Chai Feldblum presented the 2015 keynote address. She has served as a commissioner of the U.S.
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission since 2010, having been nominated to serve
by President Barack Obama, and confirmed by the Senate, initially for a term ending
on July 1, 2013. President Obama nominated her to serve a second term ending on July
1, 2018, and she was confirmed by the Senate on December 12, 2013.
2014 Conference - Applied Feminism and Health
NOW President Terry O'Neill gave the keynote address in 2014. She is a feminist attorney, professor and activist
for social justice, and was elected president of NOW in June 2009. O'Neill oversees
NOW's multi-issue agenda, which includes: advancing reproductive freedom, promoting
diversity and ending racism, stopping violence against women, winning lesbian rights,
ensuring economic justice, ending sex discrimination and achieving constitutional
equality for women.
2013 Conference - Applied Feminism and Families
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota served as the 2013 keynote speaker. The first woman elected to represent
the State of Minnesota in the Senate in 2006, she is a strong advocate for middle-class
families on a range of critical issues including economic growth, job creation and
fiscal responsibility and accountability in government.
