Specializing in finance equips you with a deep understanding of financial theories and their practical applications in the business world. You'll learn how companies and individuals make data-driven decisions to solve complex financial problems.

As a finance major, you'll delve into the intricacies of business management and gain the knowledge and skills essential for success in the financial services industry.

To help you navigate your future, our finance faculty has curated specific course clusters that align with three distinct career paths. While these tracks provide a solid foundation, remember that finance careers are diverse and offer numerous opportunities.

Financial Analyst

This track exposes students to their analysis of investments in different asset classes. Investment and credit analysis, financial modeling, financial statement analysis and security analysis are some of the areas covered in the curriculum. The curriculum can lead to jobs as a credit manager, financial analyst, valuation specialist and in the banking industry.

Financial Planning

This track exposes students to courses that help them make decisions about finances, determine financial goals and create a plan for themselves and for their clients. Managing risk through insurance, budgeting and managing debt, education planning and retirement planning are some of the areas covered in the curriculum. The track can lead to various certifications in financial planning, e.g. certified financial planner (CFP).

Management Accountant

This track exposes students in how to use accounting information in decision making and assist in the management and performance of control functions. Risk management and internal controls, performance management and planning and analysis are some of the areas covered in the curriculum. The curriculum can lead to jobs as accounting managers, controllers and chief financial officers.
