Truancy Court Program Attorney                           

David Fishkin has spent his career as an advocate for children and youth. Recently retired after 37 years with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender (OPD), David joins the Truancy Court Program (TCP) as the TCP Attorney. In this role, he will work with the team to identify, analyze and address legal issues and problems affecting TCP families, including homelessness, educational supports, custodial difficulties, health care and public benefits. Prior to stepping into this role, David volunteered as TCP judge at two Baltimore City Schools. Prior to this work, David worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the Juvenile Divisions in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. He also served as the Chief Attorney for the Juvenile Division in Baltimore City for over 20 years.  He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Masters of Education from the Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law. He is married, lives in Baltimore City and is the parent of two daughters: a junior at Baltimore City College and a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
