The Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts creates cutting-edge models of family law education that prepare law students and attorneys to address the complex issues in family law cases from a holistic, therapeutic perspective.
Post-J.D. Certificate in Family Law – CFCC, with a distinguished group of family law attorneys, judges and family law faculty, developed and now administers the nation’s first and only Post-J.D. Certificate in Family Law. It is an online, practice-oriented program designed to prepare new and experienced attorneys for the many legal and nonlegal issues that arise in the practice of family law.
CFCC Student Fellows Program I and II – As part of our mission to educate future family law attorneys and to model best practices in family law based on CFCC’s underlying theoretical foundation, CFCC offers a 3-credit, experiential course in the Fall semester that provides University of Baltimore law students with a first-hand understanding of the ways that families and the family justice system interact. Students may continue their experiential project in the Spring semester, where they may choose between earning 1 or 2 credits.
University of Baltimore Criminal Justice Interns – CFCC recruits, trains and supervises interns from the university’s criminal justice program, with the goal of instilling CFCC’s core value of improving outcomes for families and children in criminal justice professionals.
Professional Development & Trainings – Our training programs and tools for judges, attorneys, court professionals and services providers build an interdisciplinary and therapeutic understanding of the overwhelming problems that so often bring families and children to court.
