Compass Referral Form

Care Team

The Care Team is a cross-functional team led by the Office of Student Support designed to consult on students of concern that are referred through either the Student Conduct Process or the Compass Student of Concern Referral Process. Individuals brought to the attention of the team are provided support and connected with resources to assist them in working through the obstacle and in meeting university expectations.

The Care Team is responsible for serving as the central source for information sharing and cataloging information about students who show signs of disconcerting, disruptive, threatening or destructive behaviors. Team members receive and review concerns through either Student Conduct referrals or Compass Student of concern referrals. The team then monitors behavior, assesses threat, and develops response plans to help the individual overcome the challenge. The team explores possible campus and external resources available for referred students and when necessary, develops action plans to facilitate a proactive approach to address the situation. The Care Team is also responsible for educating the campus community about the Student Assistance Program, the identification and response to students who may be in need of assistance or are showing signs of distress.

Membership of Care Team

The Care Team is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who represent different areas of the campus community and who possess relevant expertise and skills. This diversity allows the team to consider concerns from a holistic university perspective and develop responses that maximize the effectiveness of the response.
